About
I'm Kevin Jaworski, a former research assistant in Cleveland State University's Mood and Emotion Regulation lab. Since my time there, I've become a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) specializing in the treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders, with a focus on complex cases where diagnoses like depression, PTSD and substance use overlap. I frequently utilize what I've learned from my research days to help clients understand what keeps them stuck and what actually moves the needle with emotion regulation. What struck me most during my time in research was seeing just how much the science has to say about the ways we get entrenched in misery—the power of maladaptive responses, emotional inertia in depression, the significance of context in emotion regulation—and what we can learn about reducing suffering. I was shocked I had never seen these ideas anywhere else before. I don’t want this information to be shocking to people—I want it to be common knowledge. Emotion Translated exists to make important findings from the emotion regulation literature accessible to mental health professionals and the curious public. Through blog posts, I translate decades of research into practical insights that people can actually use. You'll find content that translates research into practice - what the science reveals, why certain therapeutic approaches work (or don't), and what these patterns look like in real therapeutic applications - whether you're a clinician or simply curious about how emotion regulation works.
